Nashville Adventures Community Scholarship: Investing in the Kid Who Has Drive

There is a story I don’t tell often, but it sits at the heart of why I built Nashville Adventures and why we just launched the Nashville Adventures Community Leadership Scholarship. I wasn’t a great student in high school. Not even close. I had the capacity, but school and I just didn’t click back then. Teachers wouldn’t have pointed at me and said that kid is going places. They might have said I had potential, but I wasn’t living up to it.
But potential is a strange thing. It doesn’t bloom for everyone at the same time. Some kids shine early. Others find their fire later, when they finally get their footing, their confidence, or their purpose. That was me.
When I got to university, something changed. I found myself. I started excelling academically. I started taking everything seriously in a way teenage me never could have imagined. And once that drive kicked in, everything in my life began lining up behind it.
This Nashville Scholarship exists for the kid who is just like that. The late bloomer. The one with real grit who hasn’t been noticed yet. The student who has heart, humility, and hustle, even if the GPA doesn’t tell the whole story.

Why This Scholarship Matters
Nashville Adventures has grown into one of the fastest rising tour companies in the city, but the heart of this business has always been people. Not tours. Not tickets. People.
The scholarship we created is built around a very simple idea. Lift up the young leaders who are already giving back to Nashville even if they don’t have a 4.0 or a perfect resume. According to the announcement we released, we wanted to keep the application accessible and remove barriers. Students can submit either a written essay or a thirty second video explaining who they are and what service means to them.
That format matters more than people realize. Not every great kid is a great writer. Not every great writer is comfortable on camera. What matters is authenticity.
We want real stories. Real voices. Real effort.
This Nashville Scholarship is not for the kid who has already won everything. It is for the kid who keeps showing up even when nobody is clapping yet.
The Kind of Student We Are Looking For
When I was drafting the criteria, I kept thinking back to the younger version of myself. I wanted to build something for someone who reminds me of that kid.
We are looking for students who:
Show leadership or service in their community
Have genuine drive and motivation
Are actively involved in helping others
May not have the highest GPA but have high character
Are growing into themselves
Are ready to launch, even if it’s a little later than their peers
You do not need perfect grades. You do not need a perfect story. You just need proof that you are trying to make Nashville better in your own way.
This scholarship is for the kid who might be the first one to volunteer, the last one to complain, and the one who works hard quietly with no spotlight in sight.
We see you. And now we want the rest of the city to see you too.
Why Nashville Adventures Gives Back
Nashville Adventures started from a place of rebuilding. After an injury on deployment, I wasn’t sure what direction my life was supposed to go next. Giving tours at Fort Knox helped me find purpose again. Like I said in our scholarship announcement, service was the foundation I rebuilt my life on.
Storytelling, community engagement, and making people feel welcome became my craft. That grew into the company we have today.
We operate without a brick and mortar footprint so we can stay lean, profitable, and able to reinvest back into the community. We publicly commit one percent of all revenue to veteran organizations and consistently look for ways to uplift this city and the people who call it home.
Nashville Adventures is a veteran owned company built on the belief that Nashville rewards heart and effort.
This scholarship is one more extension of that belief.
Why This Nashville Scholarship Is Different
There are plenty of scholarships in the world, but many are built around grades, test scores, or long resumes full of accomplishments. There is nothing wrong with that, but it leaves out a specific type of student.
The student who learns through lived experience. The student who shows leadership through actions. The student who is out there doing the work even if nobody is giving them a headline for it.
This Nashville Scholarship focuses on impact. Not perfection. Not prestige. Just impact.
It is our way of telling students that who they are becoming matters far more than a single number on a transcript.
Our Company Values Reflected in This Program
The Nashville Adventures Community Scholarship isn’t just a line item on our website. It’s a public commitment that reflects who we are as a company.
We believe in:
Community over competition
Service over self
History as a tool for empathy, not trivia
The value of storytelling
Veteran leadership and giving back
Creating opportunities where none existed before
Those values shaped our business. They shaped me. And now they shape this scholarship.
Our company has been featured by USA Today, The Tennessean, and multiple Nashville news stations. We take that visibility seriously. We want to use the platform this city gave us to invest right back into its future.
If we are going to tell Nashville’s stories for a living, then we ought to help build the next generation who will write the next ones.

How To Apply
If you or someone you know fits this description, the application is now open. You can find full details right here.
No complicated hoops. No polished production. Just authenticity.
The best applications will come from the heart. Tell us who you are, where you come from, how you serve your community, and why you are ready for the next step.
Nashville Adventures and Our Commitment Moving Forward
This scholarship is just the beginning. As we continue growing, we plan to build deeper partnerships with schools, veteran organizations, and nonprofits around Middle Tennessee. Our long term goal is to create a civic footprint that outlasts our tours, our merchandise, and even the company itself.
If Nashville is going to keep growing, then the next generation of leaders has to grow with it. We want to help make that happen in our own small way.
And if you want to learn more about where Nashville came from, why its stories matter, or how ordinary people shaped this place, join us on one of our tours. Our Nashville History Walking Tour is one of the best ways to explore the city and hear the stories that made it what it is today.
We would love to show you around and maybe introduce you to the corners of the city that sparked this scholarship in the first place.
